Job summary

Durango School District 9-R is seeking a Special Education Instructional Paraeducator for Florida Mesa Elementary School. This 37.5‑hour weekly role runs Monday through Friday and begins as soon as possible, with benefits and housing options available.

A $1800 one-time bonus is offered for staff hired in 2026/27, pro-rated for late starts. The position supports students under licensed supervision, helps implement IEPs, and may involve field trips and diverse settings to ensure appropriate

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Skills Competence: 2 years of college or 48 hours, or paraprofessional test.
• CPR and First Aid training preferred; CPI training within 3 months of hire.
• Colorado driver’s license and potential small vehicle permit may be required.
• Criminal Background Check required for hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional support in meeting students' educational needs under supervision of licensed staff.
• Support in individual, small, and large group settings and implement IEP modifications.
• Assist with daily routines and mobility as directed by IEP.
• Facilitate speech and language development; may use sign language.
• Collaborate with teachers and admins on academic and behavioral strategies.
• Assist with data collection and maintain student records under FERPA.
