Job summary

Animas Valley Elementary School in Durango, CO is seeking an Instructional Paraeducator for a .63 FTE schedule (25.2 hours/week). The position runs Monday to Friday with benefits included.

Starting August 17, 2026, a one-time $1134 staff bonus is available for new hires in the district (pro-rated for late start). Typical duties include assisting teachers, supervising students, and helping with administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or 2 years of college/48 semester hours, or pass paraprofessional test prior to hiring.
• Experience in a school setting preferred but not required.
• CPR/First Aid certifications may be required within 3 months after hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher with instruction and reinforce materials and skills.
• Supervise students during daily activities (cafeteria, playground, hallways, buses).
• Assist with office duties; update databases and prepare reports.
• Attend building meetings, in-services, and trainings; engage in professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
