Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking an Education Support Professional to assist a certificated teacher with students who have a broad range of disabilities. The ESP provides instructional support and personal care, following IEP goals and district procedures.

The position requires completion of the General Paraeducator Certificate and training within the first months of hire. Expect 7.5 hours on campus with a 30-minute lunch, 7.5-hour day, and a salary step based on education level (AA, BA).

Qualifications

• Requires General Paraeducator Certificate or ParaPro certification.
• Experience supporting students with disabilities in a classroom.
• Ability to communicate with teachers, staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide instructional and personal care support to students with disabilities.
• Assist with data collection, progress notes and IEP goals.
• Supervise students during breaks and transitions.
• Support classroom activities and adapt materials as directed.
• Attend required trainings and maintain certification.
• Maintain attendance and comply with district policies.
