Job summary

Norwalk Community School District is seeking a Special Education Paraeducator at Oviatt Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. You will work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning, support instruction, and help maintain structured routines and safe learning environments.

You will supervise students during arrival, dismissal, meals, and field trips; assist with IEP goals and behavior plans; collect data; and collaborate with teachers, specialists, and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Experience as a paraeducator preferred.
• Experience working in a school setting preferred.
• Collaborative and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to relate to all children regardless of needs and/or abilities.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and support teacher instruction.
• Supervise students during arrival, dismissal, hallways, recess, lunch, and field trips; ensure schedules are followed.
• Assist in implementing IEP goals and behavior plans under licensed staff supervision.
• Support student engagement through prompts, cues, modeling, and scaffolding.
• Operate classroom equipment and assistive technologies and maintain a safe, clean environment.
