Job summary

Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) is seeking full-time paraeducators for River Street School in Windsor, CT. The role supports students with diverse needs under a special education teacher’s direction, employing ABA techniques and data collection to monitor IEP objectives.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma.
• Interest in learning about working with students with disabilities.
• Preferred: pursuing a 4-year degree in related field such as psychology, education, or speech pathology.
• Two or more years experience working with diverse individuals with disabilities is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in classroom preparations and reinforce instructional materials.
• Implement behavior support plans and maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
• Utilize ABA methodology to provide instructional support and collect data on IEP objectives.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Behavior Analysts, OT/PT, SLP, and Interventionists.
• Use communication devices and techniques to support verbal and non-verbal students.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
