Job summary

The Capitol Region Education Council is seeking a full-time paraeducator at River Street School in Windsor, CT to support students with disabilities under the guidance of a special education teacher. The role uses Applied Behavior Analysis to provide instructional support, track IEP objectives, and work with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma.
• Have a strong interest in learning about working with students with disabilities.
• Pursuing a 4-year degree in related fields is preferred.
• 2+ years experience with people with disabilities or in human services is preferred.
• Experience passing Safety Care training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher with classroom preparations and strategies to reinforce instruction.
• Implement behavior support plans and maintain a safe, orderly classroom.
• Support teaching opportunities during meals and transitions.
• Accompany students on community outings with supervision and instruction.
• Ensure on-task behavior and effective use of communication devices.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including Behavior Analysts, OT/PT, SLP, and Interventionists.
