Job summary

Alpine School District seeks a Special Education Para-Educator II to support students with special needs in classrooms or self-contained settings under the supervision of a classroom teacher. You will assist with instruction, behavior support, and daily living skills aligned with IEP goals during the 26/27 school year.

The role involves adapting activities, supervising students, collecting data, attending trainings, and communicating with staff to help students succeed.

Qualifications

• 16+ years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Job related experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities under the direction of the supervising teacher.
• Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional.
• Assists students with self-care activities.
• Attends job specific trainings for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Collects data for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom and preparing reports and/or processing forms.
• Communicates with supervising instructional staff for evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives.
• Implements behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders.
• Maintains instructional materials and records for ensuring availability and meeting mandated requirements.
• Monitors students during assigned periods in various school environments for a safe learning environment.
• Provides instruction to students in a variety of activities to reinforce objectives and IEP plans.
• Attends meetings and in-service presentations for acquiring or conveying information related to job functions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
