Job summary

Alpine School District is seeking a Special Education Para-Educator II to support instructional programs under the direction of a classroom teacher. This non-contract position involves assisting in supervising, caring for, and instructing students with special needs in both regular and self-contained classrooms.

Responsibilities include adapting activities to support IEP goals, assisting with self-care and behavior plans, attending trainings, and collecting data to help monitor progress.

Qualifications

• 16+ years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Job related experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives and IEP goals.
• Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional for the purpose of meeting immediate health care needs.
• Assists students with self-care activities for the purpose of maintaining students' personal hygiene.
• Attends job specific trainings for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Collects data for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom and preparing reports and/or processing forms.
• Communicates with supervising instructional staff for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives.
• Implements behavioral plans under supervision for students with behavior disorders for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts and social skills.
• Maintains instructional materials and files for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and meeting mandated requirements.
• Monitors students during assigned periods for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment.
• Provides instruction to students in a variety of activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives and ensuring student success.
• Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring efficient functioning of the work unit.
