Ampersand Therapy in Opelika, AL is hiring a Special Education Aide to support students with daily academic, mobility, personal care, and self-help needs while promoting independence and safety throughout the school day.

This is a full-time position with a competitive pay range, W-2 employment with liability insurance, healthcare benefits, and 401(k) with company match. Reimbursement for licensure, CEUs, and professional expenses is available.

Qualifications

• Must hold an Associate’s degree, OR have completed at least 48 semester hours, OR have WorkKeys test.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• School-based experience preferred, not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, and self-help skills.
• Support student mobility and safe movement throughout the school campus.
• Assist with transporting assistive technology devices and student materials.
• Provide support with classroom activities, reading, and curriculum tasks under teacher guidance.
• Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce material.
• Accompany students to the school office, nurse, and other areas as needed.
• Build supportive, professional relationships that encourage student independence and success.
• Participate in student support meetings and in-service training programs.
• Perform additional classroom duties to support a safe learning environment.

In this role, you'll play a critical role in supporting students with their daily academic, mobility, personal care, and self-help needs while promoting independence, safety, and success throughout the school day.

What You’ll Do:

What We’re Looking For:

• Must hold an Associate’s degree, OR Have completed at least 48 semester hours at a regionally accredited institution of higher education, OR Have successfully completed the Alabama State Board of Education-approved WorkKeys test.
