Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) is seeking an IEP Specialist in Chicago, IL to collaborate with the Director and resource team. You will coordinate and evaluate the educational program, mentor classroom staff, and help recruit and onboard new staff.

Qualifications

• Current SPED teaching license (LBS1)
• Experience in school settings with similar population preferred
• Experience coaching staff
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to record and analyze data using Excel and Google Drive

Responsibilities

• Work with classroom staff to coordinate, manage, assess needs and assign students to appropriate special education programs
• Assist Principal with recruiting, interviewing and onboarding campus staff
• Develop and implement transition planning and Indicator 13 services
• Maintain IEP and student file databases
• Prepare and attend students’ IEP meetings and monitor documentation for ISBE compliance
• Plan and deliver staff and parent education on special education programs
• Maintain relationships with school district, parents and community
• Provide crisis intervention at the school
• Organize and deliver staff trainings and professional development
• Participate in Education Committee meetings and relay information to the resource team
