Job summary

New Braunfels Chamber is seeking a dedicated special education teacher to provide learning activities designed to help students reach their potential and grow intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially. You will develop or modify curricula, prepare lessons, and work in self-contained, team, department, or itinerant settings as assigned, while collaborating with families and staff.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, Texas teaching certification with SPED

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• Endorsements matching assignment subject/grade; multi-area certificates preferred.
• ESL certification required within six months of employment for elementary and secondary core teachers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to develop IEPs through ARD for each student.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for assigned students.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies reflecting student needs.
• Modify regular curricula and assist in regular classes with assignments.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
• Assess learning styles and plan instructional activities.
• Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines.
• Employ varied instructional techniques and media for each student.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
• Use technology in the teaching/learning process.
