Job summary

New Braunfels Chamber is seeking a Special Education Teacher to provide learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill students' potential across intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. You will develop or modify curricula, prepare lessons, and work in various capacities as assigned.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, Texas SPED certification, and ESL certification within one year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements.
• Teaching certification in multiple areas is preferred.
• Teachers must obtain ESL Certification within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and other staff to develop IEP through ARD for each student.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development program for assigned students and show written evidence of preparation.
• Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials reflecting learning styles and needs of students.
• Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to modify curricula and assist students in regular classes.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
• Conduct assessments of student learning styles and use results to plan activities.
• Present subject matter according to IEP guidelines.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet needs of each student.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
• Use technology in teaching/learning processes.
