Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Job Coach to support students with disabilities during school- and community-based work experiences under IEP transition plans.

Role provides direct supervision, job-specific instruction, and ongoing support to develop vocational, employment, independent living, and workplace readiness skills. This is a temporary, part-time position not to exceed 29 hours per week with a June 4, 2027 end date.

Job description

The Special Education Job Coach provides additional adult assistance in supporting students with disabilities during school- and community-based work experiences as outlined in the transition plans of students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Job Coaches provide direct supervision, job-specific instruction, and ongoing support to help students develop vocational, employment, independent living, and workplace readiness skills. Responsibilities include assisting students with learning and maintaining job tasks, promoting appropriate workplace behaviors, facilitating communication between students and worksite supervisors, ensuring student safety, monitoring progress toward IEP transition goals, documenting student performance, and providing feedback to teachers and transition staff.
