Job summary

Achieve Beyond Pediatric Therapy & Autism Services is seeking a Special Education Itinerant Teacher for Long Island, NY. The role involves delivering one-on-one instruction to children aged 3 to 5 in the CPSE program and coaching families on intervention strategies.

Candidates will work in homes, family day care, daycare centers, and community settings. Starting hourly wage is $65.00–$68.00, with experience and education determining compensation.

Qualifications

• Must hold NYS certification/licensure as listed in the ad.
• Ability to travel to assigned cases within Long Island.
• Experience providing one-on-one instruction to young children is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide one on one special instruction to children aged 3 to 5 years in our CPSE program.
• Educate families on intervention strategies to facilitate involvement and carry-over.
• Work in homes, family day care, daycare centers, and community settings.
• Maintain records and submit evaluations and progress reports timely.
• Prepare progress reports per program timelines.
• Maintain confidentiality under HIPAA and state/federal rules.

Job Responsibilities for a Special Education ItinerantTeacher:

• Provide one on one special instruction to children aged 3 to 5 years in our CPSE program
• Educate family members and caregivers on different intervention strategies to facilitate active involvement and carry-over.
• Work in diverse settings such as patient homes, family day care homes, daycare centers, and/or other community settings.
• Maintain accurate records of services provided; submit evaluationsandprogress reports in a timely manner
• Prepare progress reports as per program timelines
• Maintain confidentiality of information regarding children and families (in accordance with HIPAA and State & Federal regulations) and submit records to agency within established deadlines

Requirements for a Special Education ItinerantTeacher:

• Must have a passion for working with children and families!
• One of the following NYS certifications/licenses:
  o Students with Disabilities (Birth – 2) Initial or Professional Certification
  o Permanent Special Education Certification
  o TSHH Permanent Certification
  o TSLD Initial or Professional Certification
  o NYS Licensed Master Social Worker
  o NYS Licensed Clinical Social Worker
• Must be self-motivated and a team player who exercises patience and professionalism.
• Fluency in a language other than English is a plus!

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to travel to and from assigned cases, including but not limited to:
• Driving a personal vehicle, walking and/or the use of public transportation such as a bus or train.
• The ability to ascend and descend staircases.
• The ability to lift 10 pounds regularly.
• The ability to sit on the floor, kneel and/or crawl for extended periods of time.
  

StartingRate: hourly $65-68. Compensation is determined based on experience and education and will be discussed during theSpecial Education ItinerantTeacher interview process.
