Job summary

ESC of Lake Erie West in Toledo, Ohio seeks an Intervention Specialist – Teacher to join a team delivering integrated student services. The role focuses on individual education programs, assessing progress, and providing academic and behavioral interventions within multiple content areas.

The position requires Ohio licensure as an Intervention Specialist and preferred experience with students with severe emotional disabilities; starting date is immediate, with strong collaboration across staff

Qualifications

• Ohio State Board of Education licensure as an Intervention Specialist: Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Intensive.
• Prior experience working with students with severe emotional disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish an effective, classroom instructional program aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards.
• Prepare daily lesson plans, plan strategies, and activities to meet identified needs of students, implement student IEP.
• Assess students, and evaluate student’s progress through established procedures.
• Demonstrate the ability to maintain an effective classroom management system, provide for special behavioral needs of individual students, and document/report significant behavior.
• Provide direction and guidance to instructional assistants through discussion of procedures, daily schedule, and coordinated implementation of goals and objectives.
• Administer standardized achievement tests; evaluate, interpret, and apply results; administer alternate assessments when appropriate.
• Utilize school district resources to improve instruction quality.
• Prepare classrooms for activities and provide materials to promote learning.
• Maintain a safe classroom environment; report safety concerns to Director.
• Develop daily communication with parents and caregivers.
• Participate with staff to develop a transdisciplinary approach to meet student needs.
• Maintain accurate student records; prepare and submit required reports.
• Collect data to evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations to the Director.
