Job summary

Mesa Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Assistant Special Education II for Roosevelt Elementary School in Mesa, AZ. You will assist certified teachers in monitoring and instruction of students with disabilities, supporting daily living activities, and relieving teachers of routine clerical tasks.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree or 60 college credits (or ParaPro), and prior experience in similar roles.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire or pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district free of charge.
• Previous experience and record of effectiveness in similar roles.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom work and reinforce objectives under teacher direction.
• Assist in development of instructional materials and classroom maintenance.
• Assist in data collection on academic and behavior goals.
• Implement positive behavior intervention plans for students with challenging behaviors.
• Provide support tasks per district procedures and student needs, including transfers or lifts as needed.
• Ensure safety and positive learning environment across classroom and playground.
