Job summary

Mesa Public Schools in Mesa, AZ is seeking an Instructional Assistant Special Education II - Self Contained at Roosevelt Elementary School. You will work under the direct supervision of certified teachers to monitor and instruct special education students according to Individual Education Plans (IEPs), assist with daily living and health activities, and relieve teachers of routine clerical tasks.

• Associate’s Degree or 60 college credit hours required at time of hire OR pass the ParaPro Test provided by the district free of charge
• Previous experience and record of effectiveness in similar roles

Responsibilities

• Deliver, under teacher’s direction, classroom work/homework and reinforce objectives
• Assist in development of instructional materials and maintenance of classroom
• Assist in data collection on academic and behavior goals
• Implement positive behavior intervention plans for students with challenging behaviors including aggression
• Respond to problem behaviors according to the student’s plan
• Perform and provide support tasks as required based on student need
• May assist with daily living activities and healthcare-related support for students
