Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an instructional assistant in special education to support teachers, implement IEP-based strategies, and help create an inclusive classroom environment. The role requires adherence to FERPA and confidentiality, collaboration with staff, and active participation in professional development.

Position is nonexempt, typically Mon-Fri with some evenings/weekends as needed, and may involve working with students across elementary, middle, and high school

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• For Title I schools: ESSA requirements and six ECE hours OR two years ECE experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to teachers in coordinating instructional programs for special education students.
• Assists teachers with strategies related to behavioral intervention plans.
• Aids planning, organizing, and preparing materials for lessons.
• Maintains confidentiality and proper documentation.
• Supports student transitions between classes and assists with health care needs as required.
• Utilizes assistive technology to meet student needs.
• Promotes a safe, respectful learning environment.
