Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant for Special Education to support students with IEPs in elementary, middle, or high school settings. You will assist teachers, monitor student progress, and help implement behavior plans and assistive technology in classrooms.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED; CPI certification preferred or as provided training; ability to work with diverse learners; strong Microsoft Office and Google Apps skills; CNFP

Qualifications

• KSAs required include confidentiality and teamwork.
• Experience with or willingness to obtain CPI certification.
• Ability to implement IEP-related supports and assistive tech.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with coordinating instructional programs for SPED students.
• Help implement behavioral intervention plans and instructional strategies.
• Prepare materials and ensure classroom readiness per lesson plans.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and reports.
• Support student transitions between classes and assist with health needs.
• Assist with adaptive equipment and augmentative communication devices.
• Participate in staff development and training programs.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners.
