Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks an Instructional Assistant for Special Education to support teachers in coordinating instructional programs for students with IEPs. The role requires assisting with behavior plans, organizing materials, and ensuring a safe classroom environment.

The SAIA duties include health-related support and facilitating student transitions. Desirable candidates hold a high school diploma or GED, plus coursework in early childhood education or related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; ESSA school may have additional requirements.
• Experience with or knowledge of early childhood education settings is preferred.
• Familiarity with IEP processes and FERPA compliance is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Supports teachers in coordinating instructional programs for students with IEPs.
• Assists with strategies to implement students' behavioral intervention plans.
• Organizes materials and prepares classroom supplies for lessons.
• Maintains confidentiality and supports safety and health standards.
• Facilitates student transitions between classes and assists with health needs.
• Participates in district staff development and CPI-related training.
