Job summary

Norman Junior High School is seeking a dedicated Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities in a classroom setting. Under the supervision of a certified teacher, you will help implement instructional programs, assist with self-help and behavior management, and support daily activities.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, supervising during lunch and recess, assisting with transfers and personal care, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff
• Willingness to operate general office equipment

Responsibilities

• Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers and positioning.
• Assist students with personal care and hygiene needs as required.
• Help manage behavior and intervene in crisis situations as needed.
• Supervise students during lunch, bus, and playground times.
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
