Job summary

Brandywine School District is seeking a Coordinator for Building Special Education on a 10-month contract. The role involves maintaining special education records, coordinating with speech/language, OT/PT, school psychologists, counselors and social workers to determine eligibility, placement and programming for services.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Special Education (Master's preferred), is certified as a Teacher of Exceptional Children, and has at least 3 years of SPED teaching

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Special Education required.
• Current Certification as a Teacher of Exceptional Children Special Education.
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Special Education teacher.
• Strong organizational skills and computer literacy.
• Excellent oral and written communication; ability to motivate and build relationships.

Responsibilities

• Select and administer formal and informational assessments to determine eligibility for special education services.
• Participate in/facilitate IEP meetings regarding eligibility, placement, and transition.
• Provide staff development training on identification and understanding of students with disabilities.
• Compile and maintain reports and documentation in paper and student management systems.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state policies and district guidelines in special education services.
• Consult with parents and staff on educational and emotional/behavioral needs and data interpretation.
• Represent BSD in IEP meetings for programs outside the district.
