Job summary

Brandywine School District seeks a dedicated Teacher – Special Education for a specialized program (B.R.I.D.G.E.S) at Forwood Elementary. You will design lessons aligned to standards, support students with autism or severe disabilities, and work with families to promote student growth.

The role requires licensure eligibility in Delaware for SPED and strong classroom management, with opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative district environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Special Education preferred.
• Eligible for Delaware licensure/certification in Special Education.
• Delaware certification for Teacher of Students with Autism or Severe Disabilities preferred.
• Experience with students with autism or severe disabilities preferred.
• Strong classroom management, organization, planning and instructional delivery skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to engage diverse learners.
• Ability to motivate and build relationships with students and families.

Responsibilities

• Develop daily and unit lesson plans aligned with standards and include technology integration.
• Plan for substitute teachers and relate lessons to standards.
• Create and maintain a classroom environment that engages all students and maintain records of achievement and behavior.
• Demonstrate knowledge of developmentally appropriate activities across academic, vocational and daily living skills.
• Provide timely feedback and communicate effectively with parents and staff.
• Comply with district policies and collaborate with colleagues.
• Pursue professional development through classes and coaching.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
