Job summary

Portland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Ed Tech III / Behavioral Health Professional to support students with ASD and neurodevelopmental disabilities at Talbot Community School in Portland, ME. Under the principal’s supervision, you will assist the Special Education Teacher with instruction, data tracking, Mainecare billing documentation, and non-instructional duties.

Responsibilities include implementing PSPs and BIPs, maintaining records, supporting crisis

Qualifications

• Approval as an Educational Technician III by the Maine Department of Education; Maine provisional or professional teacher certification as alternative
• Preference for candidates with a college degree that includes nine credit hours related to education, behavior management, or classroom strategies, plus at least one year of relevant experience
• Maine State fingerprint (CHRC) authorization
• Maine State Educational Technician III (023) authorization
• CPI certification preferred
• BHP certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Provides specially designed instruction to students with IEPs
• Implements lesson plans and follows schedules created by the teacher
• Supports behavior management and crisis de-escalation as needed
• Maintains data collection and documentation for progress
• Assists with supervision and safety during transitions and activities
