Chatham County Schools in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a licensed special education teacher to maximize learning for students with disabilities by implementing district curricula, documenting progress, and creating a safe learning environment.

The position requires state certification in General Curriculum (license 88091 or 88001), designation as highly qualified, and collaboration with staff, parents and administrators to develop IEPs and coordinate services.

Formación

• Knowledge of Special Education principles, testing and methods.
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction based on learning styles.
• Knowledge of data systems and action plans.
• Familiar with federal and state education laws.
• Ability to use computer networks and software applications.
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate with students and parents.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation and professional growth.
• Ability to establish cooperative working relationships.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct assessments and diagnostic exams to identify learning issues.
• Develop IEPs for students.
• Assist students and staff in implementing IEPs and behavior plans.
• Coordinate with administrators and staff to address individual needs.
• Pursue ongoing professional knowledge through seminars and workshops.
• Maintain accurate records and provide student information to colleges/employers as required.
• Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication.
• Knowledge of Response to Instruction.
• Adapt instruction to support students with special needs and diverse abilities.
