Qualifications

• Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, testing, methods.
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments, testing and diagnostic examinations of students and recommends corrective actions.
• Develops Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) for students.
• Assists students and staff in implementing IEPs and behavior management plans.
• Coordinates with administrators and teaching staff to identify needs of students, including those with special needs.
• Keeps professional knowledge current by attending seminars/workshops.
• Maintains accurate records and shares student information with colleges and employers as required by policy.
• Encourages parental involvement and maintains effective communication with students and parents.
• Knowledge of Response to Instruction.
• Possesses strong organizational, communication and teamwork skills.
