Job summary

Iosco RESA is seeking a Special Education Director to lead county-wide programming and ensure compliance with IDEA, MARSE, and Section 504. The role emphasizes ethics, program oversight, and collaboration with district leaders and staff.

Responsibilities include budgeting, monitoring, professional learning, and staffing decisions in partnership with the Superintendent, with a focus on delivering high-quality services and FAPE across the region.

Qualifications

• Temporary or full approval as a Director of Special Education as outlined in R340.1771 of PA 451.
• Earned Master’s Degree
• Full approval in a least one area of special education.
• Three years successful experience in special education administration or professional practice.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates unwavering ethics and integrity in support of Iosco RESA’s mission.
• Develops and administers special education programs in compliance with IDEA, MARSE and Section 504.
• Collaborates with other special education leaders in Iosco County.
• Works with local district administrators.
• Sets and achieves challenging goals; measures progress against standards of excellence.
• Evaluates programs, coordinates monitoring, and maintains required reports.
• Ensures offers of FAPE and proper implementation of services.
• Oversees behavior initiatives, grants, and professional development for staff.
• Plans staffing needs with the Superintendent and recruits qualified candidates.
• Stays updated on laws, rules, and policies affecting special education.
