Commonwealth Community Development Academy in Detroit seeks a dedicated SPED Director to lead and monitor the district's special education program. You will ensure compliance with state and federal mandates and supervise staff and processes for effective educational services.

You will review referrals, manage child counts, develop procedures, train staff, and collaborate with parents and external agencies to improve outcomes for students with disabilities.

Qualificações

• Master's degree in special education or equivalent.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure compliance under state and federal mandates including IDEIA and ESSA; develop administrative procedures and prepare state and federal reports.
• Examine confidential student files to monitor compliance.
• Serve as a contact person for parents, teachers, principals, and outside agencies.
• Conduct In-service training for special education staff.
• Assist principals with special education staff evaluations.
• Provide and maintain child count information as required by state and federal regulations.
• Assist in adapting Academy policies to include special education needs.
• Supervise the special education program's effectiveness on a regular basis.
• Order testing supplies as needed by teachers.
• Contribute to the development of the Academy philosophy of special education.
• Assist in recruitment and hiring of special education personnel.
• Secure consultants to work with students with special needs.
• Coordinate with system-wide administrators and specialists on instructional programming.
