Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Dean to ensure a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) for all students, in line with state and federal guidelines. This role oversees IEP development, service provision, and data reporting within the district.

The position requires a Master’s degree, a Virginia postgraduate SPED license, and at least three years of special education experience, with endorsement in Administration and Supervision preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in special education.
• Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with endorsement in Special Education; Administration and Supervision PreK-12 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with State and Federal Regulations for students with disabilities in public schools.
• Supervise IEP development, reviews and revisions, and provision of services in the least restrictive environment to ensure FAPE.
• Serve as the designee for IEP meetings as assigned by the building administrator.
• Monitor progress of students through data collection, analysis and reporting in specialized programs and services.
• Coordinate services for students who transfer between schools in Virginia or from out of state.
• Develop and maintain positive communication with the community, staff, administration and the School Board Office.
• Maintain up-to-date data in Virginia IEP System including case management and document management.
• Provide professional learning to special education staff and faculty.
• Oversee implementation of specialized instruction through observations and data analysis.
