Job summary

The Special Education Dean at Loudoun County Public Schools in Virginia leads the system to ensure FAPE for students with disabilities, aligns programs with state and federal guidelines, and collaborates with administrators, staff, and families.

Responsibilities include supervising IEP development and reviews, serving as designee for IEP meetings, monitoring progress through data analysis, coordinating cross-school transfers, and providing professional learning to staff to strengthen inclusive

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of three years' successful experience in special education.
• Virginia Postgraduate Professional License with Special Education; Admin & Supervision endorsements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with State and Federal Regulations for students with disabilities in public schools.
• Supervise IEP development, reviews, and services in the least restrictive environment to ensure FAPE.
• Serve as IEP meeting designee as assigned by the building administrator.
• Monitor progress of students through data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Coordinate services for students transferring between Virginia schools or out-of-state LEAs.
• Maintain positive communication with community, staff, administration and School Board Office.
• Maintain up-to-date data in Virginia IEP System, including case management and documents.
• Provide professional learning to special education staff and faculty.
• Oversee evaluation of instructional effectiveness and implement supports.
