Job summary

Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, Michigan, part of ACCEL Schools, seeks a Special Education Coordinator to support Intervention Specialists and ensure compliant programming. You will manage rosters, monitor data and timelines, and deliver training with the SPED team.

Working with the Special Education Manager and school leaders, you will review IEPs, participate in meetings, and help create transfer student programming while supporting Extended School Year activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and state certification required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Special Education.
• Master’s Degree preferred and current licensure/certification.

Responsibilities

• Attend trainings to stay current on regulations and best practices.
• Develop and facilitate professional development on SPED topics.
• Coordinate with enrollment to assign new SPED students to caseloads.
• Review IEPs for compliance and provide coaching to staff.
• Act as district representative at IEP meetings.
• Assist with complex parent communications as needed.
• Monitor timelines and data collection for SPED programs.
• Observe staff and provide instructional feedback.
• Collaborate with Principals to ensure consistent SPED programming.
• Work with EMIS/State Reporting to enter required data.
• Participate in ACCEL SPED trainings and meetings.
