Job summary

ACCEL Schools LLC is hiring a Special Education Coordinator for Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, Michigan. You will support Intervention Specialists, manage rosters, monitor compliance, and provide PD and coaching to staff while collaborating with enrollment and state reporting teams.

The role requires leading with integrity, managing confidential information, and ensuring high-quality educational programming within state laws and ACCEL procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in the Special Education field.
• Current Special Education Teacher or Administrator Certification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Ability to handle confidential information and maintain sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Attend trainings offered by county agencies and the department of education.
• Develop and facilitate professional development on Special Education topics.
• Coordinate with enrollment team to assign students to caseloads and review documentation.
• Review IEPs for compliance and provide coaching to Intervention Specialists.
• Act as district representative at IEP meetings.
• Assist with complex parent communications as needed.
• Monitor compliance with timelines and data collection.
• Observe Intervention Specialists and provide feedback.
• Collaborate with school leaders to align general and special education programs.
• Enter needed data into state/federal systems as required.
• Participate in ACCEL Special Education trainings and meetings.
