Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking a Special Education Coordinator for Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, Michigan. You will support Intervention Specialists with roster management, compliance monitoring, PD delivery, and observation/feedback in collaboration with school leadership.

Responsibilities include reviewing IEPs for quality, coordinating with enrollment on new transfers, and acting as district representative at IEP meetings. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Master’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the Special Education field.
• Current Special Education Teacher or Administrator Certification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products.

Responsibilities

• Attend trainings offered by county agencies and the department of education to stay current on regulations.
• Develop and facilitate professional development and training on varied Special Education topics.
• Coordinate with enrollment team to understand volume of new students and assign IS caseloads.
• Review IEPs for compliance and quality; provide coaching to Intervention Specialists.
• Act as district representative at IEP meetings and assist with parent communications.
• Monitor compliance with timelines and data collection; observe instruction and provide feedback.
• Collaborate with principals to ensure consistency in general and special education programming.
• Enter data into state systems in collaboration with EMIS and reporting teams.
• Participate in ACCEL Special Education trainings and perform other duties as assigned.
