Job summary

Lane ESD seeks a Special Education Consultant to support students with low incidence and social-emotional disabilities through behavioral and instructional guidance aligned with IEPs.

You will consult with ESD and district staff, participate in IEP meetings, provide staff development and classroom coaching, observe and support instructional teams, and help maintain compliant records and transitions.

Qualifications

• Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission special education license (or ability to obtain) is required.
• Knowledge of federal and state special education requirements and current best practices.
• At least 3 years successful experience in a similar special education environment with cognitive impairments and/or autism spectrum disorder.
• Effective oral and written communication; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Consult with ESD and local district staff.
• Provide assistance implementing IEPs.
• Participate in multi-disciplinary team and IEP meetings; determine eligibility and develop IEPs.
• Provide technical assistance on behavioral supports to minimize problems.
• Assist in developing and monitoring educational programs across curriculum areas.
• Conduct classroom observations; observe and coach instructional assistants.
• Assist in student evaluations and referrals for services.
• Maintain records of services as required.
• Demonstrate professional communication with students, staff, families, and community.
