Job summary

Wake County Public School System seeks an Instructional Assistant-Special Education to support students with IEPs across elementary, middle, or high school settings.

The role includes assisting teachers with behavioral intervention plans, adapting lessons, coordinating materials, and ensuring a safe learning environment; CPI training provided.

Requires a high school diploma; CPI certification and FERPA knowledge emphasized; workweek is Monday–Friday with occasional evenings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Familiarity with IEP concepts preferred.
• CPI certification training will be provided by WCPSS.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with planning and coordinating instructional activities for students with IEPs.
• Support implementation of behavioral intervention plans and safety supervision.
• Prepare materials, monitor student progress, and maintain confidentiality.
• Support transitions between classes and assist with adaptive technology where needed.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure a positive, inclusive learning environment.
