Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 48 semester hours of college credit and/or an associate's degree from an accredited college/university.
• Pass the Work Keys Test as mandated by the Alabama State Department of Education.
• Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.

Responsibilities

• Performs academic, therapeutic, and recreational tasks under the supervision of a certified special education teacher.
• Works with small groups to reinforce and re-teach material.
• Assists individual students needing special attention.
• Assists with routine classroom clerical and housekeeping duties.
• Sets up instructional aids, bulletin boards and learning displays.
• Supervises students during lunch, assemblies, and physical education activities.
