Job summary

Pathfinder, Inc. seeks a dedicated aide to support a special education classroom under a Certified Teacher or lead teacher. You will assist with daily programs, plan activities, and help deliver individual and small-group instruction to students with IEPs.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, be able to pass background checks and a drug screen, and work well in a team. You will help with meals, behavior management, and maintain confidential communications with families.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must pass background checks and drug screen.
• Willing to work with a team of professionals in special education.

Responsibilities

• Assist, plan and implement the daily program under supervision, including activities in and outside the classroom.
• Support the classroom teacher with all aspects of instruction in the special education classroom.
• Aid in individual and small group lessons as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain a safe, inviting, and stimulating environment and contribute ideas to benefit the program.
• Assist with paperwork and maintain records on students and program data.
• Help with unloading/loading students for transportation.
• Provide behavior support during lessons and help with positive prompting and reinforcement.
• Supervise and interact with students during all activities.
• Attend staff meetings and required trainings; communicate with director as needed.
• Maintain open, warm, professional communication with staff, students and families; respect confidentiality.
• Assist with meals and promote appropriate socialization.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
