Job summary

MSD of Warren Township in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an Instructional Assistant (Special Education: Self-Contained LIFE) to support a Special Education teacher in a self-contained classroom. Under direct supervision, you will assist students with diverse learning needs, help implement IEP goals, and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.

This non-exempt hourly role follows the school calendar, with about 7 hours per day and 180 school days per year; some duties may include mobility

Qualifications

• Must meet paraprofessional requirements under ESSA.
• Pass Expanded Criminal History Check and Expanded Child Protection Index Check.
• At least an associate degree or two years of college.
• Ability to meet physical/sensory requirements with accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group support.
• Assist with academic, organization, and communication skills.
• Support behavior management and safety per IEPs.
• Assist with daily living skills as needed.
• Prepare instructional materials and adapt curriculum.
• Track student progress and document IEP data.
• Facilitate inclusion in general education activities.
• Maintain communication with teachers and specialists.
