Job summary

Metropolitan School District of Warren Township seeks an Instructional Assistant (Special Education: Self-Contained Functional Academics) to support students with diverse learning needs at Sunny Heights Elementary School.

You will work under direct supervision with a Special Education teacher, facilitating an inclusive classroom environment and assisting with academic and social development. Duties include data tracking, collaboration, and adapting materials to individual IEP goals.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
• Experience with school-age children with special needs preferred.
• Must meet paraprofessional requirements per ESSA and clear background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs.
• Implement IEP-based behavior management and safety procedures.
• Assist students with assistive technology and communication needs.
• Prepare instructional materials and adapt the curriculum with the teacher.
• Record data on student progress and IEP outcomes.
• Support inclusion in general education classrooms and collaborate with teachers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
