Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an EC teacher assistant to support the assigned teacher and guide EC students toward IEP goals, under general supervision.

The role includes supervising students, preparing materials, assisting with attendance and testing, and participating in trainings and school activities on campus. This position may involve bus duties and field trips as needed to support student access to general education.

Qualifications

• Requires understanding of local, state, and federal regulations relating to exceptional children.
• Must be able to use technology and communication tools relevant to disabilities.
• Strong classroom management and differentiation skills.
• Familiarity with IEP processes and related documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher and support EC students in learning tasks.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and on school grounds.
• Prepare lesson materials, bulletin boards, and demonstrations for the classroom.
• Assist with attendance procedures, record-keeping, and organization of learning spaces.
• Participate in daily bus, car, and van transportation duties related to student arrivals and departures.
• Assist during emergency drills, field trips, and other school activities on or off campus.
• Provide physical assistance as needed in self-help, clothing management, toileting, and feeding.
• Support therapists and teachers with activities related to therapy and mainstreaming.
