Job summary

Kenilworth Public Schools is seeking an Anticipated Special Education Classroom Aide for the 2026-2027 school year at Harding Elementary School in Kenilworth, NJ. The position is part-time with split shifts (8:30 AM–11:30 AM and 1:00 PM–3:00 PM).

The aide will assist special education students with learning activities, personal care, and toileting, and will collaborate with building staff to support behavioral/learning needs. NJ residency and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status required.
• Willingness to assist with learning activities, personal care, and toileting for special education students.
• Ability to collaborate with building staff.
• Experience with students with behavioral/learning needs or prior experience as a behavioral support aide.
• Knowledge of ABA preferred.
• RBT certification is a plus.
• Bilingual Spanish language ability desirable.
• Must meet NJ residency per the New Jersey First Act.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
• Willingness to actively assist special education students in the performance of learning activities, personal care, and/or toileting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with appropriate building staff.
• Experience working with students with behavioral/ learning needs and/or previous experience working as an aide with behavioral support.
• Knowledge of ABA - Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.
• RBT - Registered Behavior Technician certification a plus.
• Bilingual- Spanish speaking ability desired.
• Must meet NJ Residency requirements as per the New Jersey First Act, N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70).

REPORTS TO: Principal/Director of Student Personnel Services

TERMS

TERMS: $30.71 per Hour; terms as stated below.

• The employee is not eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid sick and personal leave accruals (pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement), and enrollment in the New Jersey Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund (TPAF) or the Public Employees' Retirement System.
