Qualifications

  • At least one of: an Associate's degree or 48 credits, WorkKeys and 96 hours of in-service training, or completion of the NC Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship.
  • One year working with EC children preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, and gymnasiums.
  • Discuss duties with the classroom teacher to coordinate instructional efforts.
  • Provide physical assistance to students and monitor safety during activities.
  • Collect data to document student progress toward IEP goals.
  • Prepare lesson materials and classroom displays for instruction.
  • Participate in daily bus, car, and van transportation duties.
