Job summary

Emerald Academy in Knoxville is seeking an innovative Special Education Behavior Support professional to help grow scholars into capable leaders. This exempt, full-time role reports to the Director of Specialized Services and focuses on individualized behavioral support in a student-centered environment.

You will implement behavior intervention plans, monitor progress, maintain student records, and collaborate with teachers to ensure IEP/BIP fidelity.

Qualifications

• Hold an active Special Education Teaching License.
• Experience supporting challenging behaviors and implementing BIPs with fidelity.
• Passion for the work and ability to thrive in an innovative environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to scholars with behavioral needs, including implementing behavior intervention strategies and monitoring progress.
• Follow all legal documents (IEP and BIPs).
• Maintain student records and data tracking.
• Administer all diagnostic tools.
• Prepare the classroom and organize instructional materials and equipment.
• Monitor the classroom when the teacher must attend staffing meetings or provide consultation.
• Attend in-service and faculty meetings as requested.
• Refrain from discussing confidential school business and student records outside of school hours.
• Assist in providing reasonable accommodations as needed.
• Supervise students during bus trips as directed by the building-level administrator.
• Chaperone during lunch, bus usage, recess/playground, and time frames around school.
