Job summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking a Behavior Specialist to join our Special Education team. You will implement targeted interventions, monitor behaviors, and support classroom staff with ABA-informed strategies to improve student outcomes.

The role emphasizes proactive planning, data-driven decisions, and collaboration with IEP teams to ensure safety and positive progress in a school setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; basic skills test.
• Associate's degree or higher preferred in related field.
• RBT credential preferred; crisis management training certification desirable.
• Experience with ABA concepts (FBA, PBIS, BIP) is a plus.
• Ability to obtain and maintain crisis management training certification.
• Experience supporting students with learning disabilities or autism is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Implement targeted interventions to improve academic, social-emotional, and behavioral outcomes.
• Reinforce positive behavior and model effective strategies for staff.
• Maintain accurate records related to behavior plans and SBS/BIP documents.
• Collect and chart behavioral data to monitor progress with IEP teams.
• Provide guidance to classroom staff on behavior management systems.
• Conduct observations for FBA and develop behavior plans.
• Assist in supervising students during activities and field trips.
• Respond to crises with de-escalation techniques and safety protocols.
• Document incidents and ensure confidentiality and compliance.
