Job summary

Canyon Lake High School in Fischer, Texas seeks a SpEd Behavior Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities under the supervision of a certified teacher. You will assist in behavioral management, class activities, and instructional support to help students access learning.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, supervising students, maintaining records, and assisting with mobility or daily tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate.
• Completion of at least 2 years of college (48 semester hours), an associate’s degree, or demonstrated ability to assist in reading, writing, and math readiness as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Support teacher with administrative records and required reports.
• Provide orientation to substitute teachers.
• Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers and positioning as needed.
• Help manage student behavior and intervene when necessary.
• Develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises with individual students or small groups.
• Supervise students during the day (lunchroom, bus, playground) and maintain confidentiality.
• Participate in staff development and department activities.
