Job summary

TrulyHired is seeking a Special Education Assistant (Cross Cat) for Patrick Elementary in Kentucky. The role supports students with IEP objectives and assists in classroom activities during 6.5 hours daily across 191 school days.

Applicants must have a High School diploma or equivalent, Educational Aide Permit, and be able to work as part of a team with confidentiality and honesty. Training in paraprofessional standards is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of college (48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours) or an Associate's Degree.
• Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam completion.
• Valid Educational Aide Permit or ability to obtain one on employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists the teacher to implement the IEPs.
• Assists students as needed to fulfill educational needs.
• Helps students develop independence and personal responsibility.
• Provides lavatory assistance when necessary.
• Assists students during lunch and recreational activities.
• Assist students to and from classes and on trips.
• Understands and maintains academic and behavioral standards.
• Assists students on buses and in active therapy programs.

Patrick Elementary

6.5 hours per day, 191 days per year

Step 1 - Hourly Rate $18.95

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a Cross Categorical Assistant include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assists the teacher to implement the IEP's
• Assists students as needed to fulfill their educational needs
• Helps students develop a sense of independence and personal responsibility
• Provides lavatory assistance when necessary
• Assists students during lunch and recreational activities
• Assists students to and from classes
• Assists students on trips
• Understands and maintains the academic and behavioral standards set for the students by the certified teacher
• Assists students loading and unloading on buses
• Assists in active therapy programs
• Performs other duties as assigned

Applicants for the above positions are REQUIRED to be Highly Qualified, which is defined as: Two (2) years of college (Minimum of 48 Semester Hours, or 72 Quarter Hours), or possess an Associate's Degree, or passed the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam.

Applicants must submit a copy of their Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam results, or a copy of their college transcript(s) to verify their Highly Qualified Status. Applicants must also have a valid Educational Aide Permit, or obtain one immediately upon being employed with the Canton City School District. If you do not meet the criteria for Highly Qualified, you are not eligible to apply.
