Job summary

Los Alamos Public Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant for Los Alamos Middle School in New Mexico. The assistant supports students with special education needs under the guidance of the special education teacher, helps implement plans, collects progress data, and assists with daily living and classroom activities.

Requirements include NM PED licensure/educational assistant license and a valid NM driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of special education programs and student instruction.
• Ability to collect progress data and monitor student goals.
• Familiarity with record keeping and reporting requirements.
• Ability to assist instructors and students in daily activities.

Responsibilities

• Support students with educational disabilities under supervision.
• Ensure safety of students in school and community settings.
• Implement behavior plans and monitor progress.
• Prepare instructional materials and aid classroom activities.
• Assist with Individualized Education Programs and progress reporting.
• Provide tutoring and assist transitions from self-contained to standard classrooms.
• Maintain attendance records and assist with clerical tasks.
