Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Eligible for NM Instructional Assistant License
• Post-secondary education in related topics preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Follow local, state and federal law and adhere to Public Education Department and Local School Board Policy.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Assist in the movement and care of non-ambulatory students as needed.
• Work with the classroom teacher in developing materials used for the instructional program.
• Assist the teacher in classroom activities including but not limited to checking notebooks and correcting papers.
• Participate in professional development to improve skills.
• Assist in preparing class displays, bulletin boards and other elements of an attractive, stimulating learning environment.
• May substitute for the teacher in emergency situations.
• Assist in non-instructional duties, including but not limited to hall, lunchroom, and ground monitoring as directed.
• Operate various types of equipment used in the production of instructional materials.
• Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
