Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with special needs in regular or self-contained classrooms. You will help implement instructional plans, monitor behavior, and attend IEP meetings.

Responsibilities include adapting activities, coordinating with teachers and parents, and providing basic care and safety support. A high school diploma and required trainings are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; paraeducator assessment score may be required.
• Associates degree or higher preferred in some positions.
• CPR/First Aid/secure training may be required or offered.

Responsibilities

• Adapts activities and materials to support participation of all special education students.
• Assists in evaluating student progress and organizing individual needs.
• Administers first aid and medical assistance as required.
• Supports students with personal care needs.
• Attends meetings and communicates with teachers/parents about progress.
• Implements behavioral plans for students with behavior disorders.
• Instructs students in academic and daily living activities to meet goals.
• Maintains student records and materials; monitors safety in various school areas.
• Performs other duties to ensure efficient operations of the unit.
