Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant/ISE-203 to support students with special needs within regular or self-contained classrooms. You will assist in implementing instructional plans, monitor behavior, and help prepare materials for individualized programs.

The role involves collaboration with classroom teachers and attendance at IEP meetings as needed, ensuring safe, supportive learning environments and accurate record keeping for student progress.

Qualifications

• Requires tutoring assistance and classroom support.
• Experience assisting in special education settings is preferred.
• Ability to follow IEP objectives with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supervision, care and instruction of special needs students in classrooms.
• Implement plans for instruction as directed by teachers.
• Monitor student behavior during non-classroom time; attend IEP meetings.
• Adapt activities under teacher direction to include all students.
• Maintain student files/records and assist with progress data.
